A CONVERSATION: ABOUT CHARACTERS.

*while watching our favorite TV series*
Timmy: I think my favorite character is Michael.

Me: … Michael? Do you mean Matthew??

Timmy: Oh, is that his name?

Me: He's your favorite character
and you don't even know his name??

Timmy: I guess I just go by feelings, not names.

A Conversation: About Chicken

Tim: What are we having for dinner sweetie?
Me: Chicken tacos.
Tim: Oh. I've never had a chicken taco before.
Me: You had one last night. That's what you always get at Chipotle....
Tim: You make a strong case.

I've had several people ask me why I started eating chicken again, and it is a fair question that deserves an explanation. I had been vegan for ten years! So here it is, in summary.

I became vegan for health reasons – I wanted to be healthier. There are many many benefits to being vegan, and I still believe it to be a very nutritious lifestyle. But, I've never believed it to be the only healthy way of eating, and I truly believe that it's more about the quality of the foods you do eat. Such as, eating fresh, organic, locally grown, non-gmo, etc. I think that we sometimes make it too hard and want people to fit into our idea of what exactly they should be eating (gluten-free, raw, vegan, vegetarian, paleo, etc.), instead of focusing on good, solid nutrition. Let's eat vegetables, people! And say NO to McDonald's!

So, when Tim and I discuss what we want our future family to look like, the topic of food comes up often. We want our whole family to be united and to eat the same healthy meals. It just made sense for me to start eating chicken occasionally. Chicken wasn't something he was willing to give up, and I couldn't really see a reason to not start incorporating it into our family diet. Honestly, I've been enjoying it.

And Rosie ate an egg tonight. Let's add that to the list of three things she is willing to eat and rejoice.

A CONVERSATION: ABOUT THE TIME.

*after being awakened by Rosemary crying at some wee hour of the night*

Me: Uhgggggggg. What time is it?
Timmy: … I don't know… Don't be mad at me.
Me: Huh? What TIME is it?
Timmy: Don't be mad.
Me: I asked you what TIME IT IS?
Timmy: I'm sorry. I'm trying so hard…
Me:

I think it's obvious that a clock on my side of the bed is a good idea.

A CONVERSATION: ABOUT METEORS

*While discussing the pros and cons of a potential road trip.*

Me: I don't know babe. Maybe we shouldn't go.
We could get in a car accident and die.

Timmy: Yes. But what if we do go and our house gets hit
by a meteor while we're gone?? We'll be so glad we went!

A Conversation: About Daydreams

Me: You know, you're better than I ever imagined in any of my daydreams.

Timmy: You're a daydream that I caught.

(Happy 31 Months of being Mr. & Mrs.!)

A Coversation: About French

Me: I wish we could teach Rosemary a foreign language.
I know some French. Let's say something in French.

Timmy: Ok!

Me: Bonjour je m'appelle Becki. Je suis magique.

Timmy: … TRIANGLE!

I learned some basic French before we went on our honeymoon to Paris. I basically knew how to say, "My name is Becki. This is my husband, Tim. We are newlyweds. It is so magical. If I eat dairy I die."

And I could only remember it if I said each phrase in that exact order,
so needless to say I didn't have very many meaningful French conversations.

And I think it is obvious from the above conversation that Timmy knows ZERO French.

So I guess Rosemary won't be bilingual, but…

she has a Daddy that will always make her laugh.

(so who needs French?)

A Conversation: About Little Hearts

Timmy: So I was just thinking… Rosemary has this itty bitty tiny version of a heart!

Me: Ooooh! That is so cute! A teeny little heart!

Timmy: Yeah, and a little liver!

Me: And a tiny stomach!

Both: OOOOOH! She is too cute!!!!

Timmy: Let's wake her up so we can play with her!

… you could say that we're smitten.

A Conversation: About the Nursery

Overheard from downstairs, as my 7 year old nephew inspected Baby Love's nursery:

Nephew: If this baby is a boy, he's gonna be so mad. He's gonna be so mad!

Timmy: Why?

Nephew: Because there's girl stuff in here!! There's PINK stuff.

Timmy: Oh, well buddy that's not pink, it's actually a shade of red.

HAHA. My neice, sister-in-law, and I were listening to this conversation from the couch and couldn't stop laughing. This particular nephew is hilarious and constantly surprising me with his thoughts and opinions. His twinkley eyes and cherub cheeks make him irresistible and able to get away with almost anything.

And Tim's response is priceless. I love that man.
Baby Love's nursery is all done! I'll post photos soon!

A Conversation: About Healthy Medicine

Timmy: *mixing some strange concoction*
Now I want you to drink this
because it's really good for you.
But just don't look at it, ok?

Me: ... whyyy? *looks at cup*

Me: GROSS!

Timmy: Oh babe, I told you not to look at it!
It tastes good, I promise!

(He always says that. And that usually means it tastes awful. In this particular case, he wanted me to drink a cupful of "healthy bacteria" mixed with cranberry juice. I threw up.)

A Conversation: About Packing

Me: I think our idea to only bring carry on luggage to Europe may be harder than I thought. I’ve been planning my outfits… and I don’t think I’m going to have enough room!

Timmy: I’m only going to bring the clothes I have on. And some underwear.

Me: …you mean you’re not going to pack anything but the clothes you wear on the plane?

Timmy: Yes.

Me: Gross. I’ll be doing your packing…

3.20.2011

A Conversation: About Pajamas

Timmy: Umm, I made eye contact with that lady,
and she laughed at my pajamas.

Me: Well, not many guys would wear penguin pajamas.
To Barnes & Noble...

2.09.2011

A Conversation: About Shaving

Timmy: Babe! I have a freshly shaven face!

Me: Nice. And how does that make you feel?

Timmy: Like a gentle angel.

1.21.2011

A Conversation: About Eating

Me: Babe, you should eat a bagel before bed.
You didn't eat dinner - you must be hungry!

Tim: *whining* But eating a bagel is just SO much work…

Me: I'll toast and butter it for you!

Tim: But you can't help me chew.

1.10.2011

A Conversation: About Blogging

Timmy: Babe, I really want to start helping with some different things
in your life because you're just getting too overwhelmed. What could I do?

Me: Nothing...

Timmy: *with excitement* I know!!! I could probably put up a
Happily, Becki blog post for you!

Me: Oh really?

Timmy: Yes, I'd be like, "Hi! I'm a kitten..."

12.26.2010

Me: Our Christmas cards came in the mail today!! I can't wait to send them off...
Timmy: *looks at printed cards* Babe, you do realize that it looks like I am balding in this picture? Literally. Like there is a three inch strip of hair missing on my scalp.
Me: It's just the lighting.
Timmy: Oh my goodness, this is horrible...

(Timmy is not balding, for the record.)

Merry Christmas, friends.

A Conversation: Christmas Cards

While writing on Christmas cards together:
Timmy: This is so meaningful. I love this!
I feel like I'm hanging out with all these different people by doing this!!

12.02.2010

A Conversation: Popcorn Chains

Me: I've always wanted to make a popcorn chain for Christmas.
Timmy: ... Can we eat it?

11.04.2010

A Conversation: About Vitamin D

*As I am taking my vitamins…
Me: I don't even know what half of these vitamins are.
So, what is this one? Vitamin D? What am I taking that for?

Timmy: It's good for you.

Me: Oh. What is it good for?

Timmy: Everything. Bones, brain… immune system… mood…

Me:mood??

*note: Timmy doesn't really think I'm moody.

9.28.2010

a conversation: about beef and agnes

Me: What do you think of the baby name *Agnes?
Timmy: *completely serious*
Babe, you DO know that is a type of beef?
Me: Umm... do you mean Angus?

*I was really only joking about naming a baby Agnes.

P.S. Timmy ate a veggie burger for the first time tonight and he loved it.
hehe. My sneaky vegan plan is working! No Angus for us!
